About PilatesNextNext

Pilates is an exercise program involving proper body alignment, posture, and an emphasis on core strength which engages muscles from the inside out to create a longer, leaner body.

Pilates machines use springs rather than weights to mimic the movement and function of the body's muscles. Fluid movements and coordinated breathing naturally reduce stress and tension, so workouts leave you feeling refreshed, not exhausted. The inner strength you'll gain paired with control over breathing and balance creates a whole new sense of self for our clients.

For more information about Pilates, its founder, Joseph Pilates, and the equipment used at Scoop Studio, check out the Balanced Body website.

"Contrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit."
- Joseph Pilates, Return to Life, 1945

Meet MollyNextNext

Molly Lamb has been teaching Pilates since 1999. She is certified by the Physicalmind Institute and has a B.S. in Physiology from the University of Arizona.

A Bay area native, Molly gained her initial passion for movement from dance and interest in rehabilitation through working in physical therapy. This allowed her to develop a keen sense of using exercise to rehabilitate the body from acute injury to minor chronic discomfort.

Molly completed her pre- and post-natal Pilates certification with the Center for Women's Fitness in 2006, and is passionate about giving women the workout tools they need to keep their bodies strong and comfortable during pregnancy and beyond.

Molly enjoys the challenge of creating customized workouts that are safe and effective for all ages and fitness levels. She encourages her clients to explore the balance of strength and awareness that Pilates can bring to everyday life.

Meet StacyNextNext

Stacy Finney is a California girl at heart, hailing from Foster City. She attended the University of Arizona, receiving a B.S. in Rehabilitation and Special Education. Stacy is a certified Pilates instructor and received her training from Body Arts and Science International.

Stacy has been interested in movement her entire life. Her movement background includes ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop dance along with competitive soccer, performing arts and cheerleading. All of her experiences have inspired her love for fitness and body awareness. Stacy believes that personal health and well being through mind-body connection are the ultimate goals and that the fundamentals of Pilates can help each us achieve it.

When Stacy isn’t working on furthering her Pilates knowledge you can find her hanging out with her family and friends.

Meet SaraNextNext

Sara fell in love with Pilates in 2006. A competitive athlete since she was a child, Sara participated in swimming, soccer, skiing, running, and water polo. After playing water polo in college she found that she was not happy with how bulky her muscles had became so she set out to find a workout regimen that would help her maintain her strength while creating long lean muscles. She tried many things but it wasn’t until she found Pilates that she started to notice her body dramatically changing. Sara has been hooked ever since. After three years of practice she decided she wanted to share her passion and enthusiasm for Pilates with others. Sara is certified through Mercury Fitness under Master Trainer Lara Hudson. When she is not teaching Pilates you can find her practicing Pilates, training for triathlons, cooking and eating, reading and spending time with her family and friends. Sara feels that Pilates is like no other exercise in that it will transform your body from the inside out. She believes Pilates is a practice that ensures a healthy body and a happy mind. As Joseph Pilates says, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”

Meet AllieNextNext

Allie was born and raised on the east coast and moved to Calfornia almost ten years ago. She has been a student of movement her whole life, enjoying ballet, running, swimming and tennis. Allie came to Pilates after having her first child and felt Pilates was a wonderful way to support her body. She continued doing Pilates during her second pregnancy and is particularly interested in nurturing 'post-baby' bodies.

Allie focuses on providing in depth information on technique and form and strives to give a balanced class that challenges all levels of students. Allie's training in Mat and Reformer I and II was via Balanced Body.

Meet JanelleNextNext
